Glorious Goodwood
If you like cars, car culture, motor racing and being around those who do, you will love the Goodwood Festival of Speed. There in the beautiful surroundings of the Goodwood estate and racetrack you can get to experience first hand the sights, sounds and smells of the cars and people who make motorsport great.
Goodwood themselves describe it as “Motorport’s ultimate summer garden party, an intoxicating celebration of the world’s most glamorous sport.”
The event has been making motorsport fans lives better for the last 28 years and the great news is that it is back in 2021. Just in case you wondered the theme for this years event is “The Maestros – Motorsports Great All-Rounders”. This is where Goodwood say that they will salute to those in the automotive world, not just drivers and riders, but teams and manufacturers, who never allowed themselves to be bound to any one discipline through their careers. This means they will be celebrating the lives of famous drivers including the late Sir Stirling Moss. He not only won Grand so many Prix races, he was successful in saloon cars, endurance racing and rallying.
The cars he drove and teams he worked with will be there and most famously they will be tearing up Goodwood Hill and around the track at full race speeds. That’s why enthusiasts go to Goodwood. That and the entertainment, the food and the whole whiff of fuel atmosphere. Even the car park is great, packed with exotic, iconic and rare models owned by fellow visitors.
Former World Champion Jenson Button said, “It’s the most special weekend for motorsport ever. Grand Prix are spectacular, but this just a stand out event”
